Music, music everywhere!

Erie has a vibrant arts and entertainment scene, with several theatres, including the Erie Playhouse, PACA Performing Arts and Theatre,  and the Warner Theatre, which is home to the Erie Philharmonic. You’ll find murals all over town and there are several museums, including the Erie Art Museum, the Maritime Museum, the Hagen History Center, and the ExpERIEnce Children’s Museum.

Erie is also home to the Erie Otters, a Canadian League hockey team who play in the winter, of course, and the Erie SeaWolves, double A baseball team.

But, where Erie really shines, especially in summer, is in live music. There are free concerts every night in the summer in the city and even more in the county.

In addition to these events, you can find tons of live music at many of the area bars. A few of the most popular ones include, Oliver’s Beer Garden, The Cove, Rum Runners, and a little further up State, Big Bar (10th and State) features tons of local bands.

One thing Erie probably lacks is a comprehensive guide to local music. That was once the forte of the Erie Times-News’ Showcase section and its beloved music columnist, Dr. Rock. But, Dr. Rock took one of the buyouts long ago, and …well, let’s just say the paper is struggling these days. That said, it they do still have an events calendar.  You might also check out Erie’s free alternative weekly publication, the Erie Reader, which has a page dedicated to music.

Looking for other entertainment? Here are some other options. Props to Macaroni Kid Erie, which also has an extensive Erie events calendar:
