Fall Bird Banding at PISP is underway

Fall bird banding is now underway at Presque Isle State Park! You may remember that I wrote about bird banding in the spring, but by the time I wrote about it, spring migration was nearly over and so was spring banding.

However, the birds are on the move again, migrating to warmer climates for the winter. In an effort to track them and learn more about their migration patterns and behaviors, Erie Bird Observatory, will be banding birds at Fry’s Landing (between the lagoons and Beach 11) on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through the end of October.

Remember, that banding is weather dependent and can, and does, get canceled at the last minute. So, follow EBO on Facebook and check their page before you head to the park.
