The Hagen History Center’s “Story of Us” exhibit is the story of Erie, Pa., and how the city came to be.
The 3,000-square-foot exhibit is located on the second floor of the Carriage House and tells the entire story of the settlement and great industrial growth of Erie and the county from its indigenous people to its later-arriving immigrants. Interactive displays encourage visitors to view artifacts from all angles (views created using 3-D scanned images), make a recipe (virtually) from the 1890s or the 1950s, and more.
The same building houses an exact replica of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s San Francisco office and other architectural exhibits that pertain to Erie, including the Oliver Hazard Perry Welcome gallery where you can get a close look at genuine Perry artifacts and play with an engaging ship-spotting interactive screen.
Admission to the Hagen History Center also includes admission to the Watson-Curtze Mansion, an 1892 historic home turned museum, as well as the Wood-Morrison House, which includes Erie County military history.
The Hagen History Center Museums are a great way to spend the day. They are open Tuesdays through Sundays.
